Bischofsried is a district of the market in Dießen am Ammersee in the Upper Bavarian district of Landsberg am Lech .
geography
The hamlet of Bischofsried is about two kilometers west of Dießen am Ammersee on the eastern slope of Jungfernberg (694 m).
Not far from the hamlet there are seven springs from which most of the water for the market in Dießen still comes today.
history
Bischofsried was first mentioned in 1078 as Piscofesried .
The hamlet belonged to the Dießen monastery until the secularization in 1803 , in 1752 three properties are mentioned.
Attractions
Not far from the hamlet is the Maria Schnee chapel , consecrated in 1674 . The interior of the chapel was stolen or destroyed in 1973. It was then restored in a simple form by the Wengen fraternity and consecrated in 1978.
