St. Alban is a district of the market in Dießen am Ammersee in the Upper Bavarian district of Landsberg am Lech .
geography
The hamlet of St. Alban is located about one kilometer north of Dießen am Ammersee, directly on the banks of the Ammersee .
history
As early as the year 1000, St. Kunissa is said to have built a monastery here.
The hamlet was first mentioned in a document as Sant Alban in 1349 .
Until the secularization of 1803 St. Alban belonged to the Augustinian Canons of Dießen , in 1752 five properties are mentioned.
Until April 30, 1978 it belonged to the formerly independent municipality of Rieden.
Attractions
In St. Alban is the same pilgrimage church of St. Alban , an originally late Gothic building, renovated 1736-39 and Baroque style was. The three altars are by the Raistinger plasterer and sculptor Thomas Schaidhauf, the high altar depicts the beheading of the church patron Alban.
In the hamlet there is the Benedictine - monastery of St. Alban .
