Abtsried is a district of the market in Dießen am Ammersee in the Upper Bavarian district of Landsberg am Lech .

geography

The desert of Abtsried is about seven kilometers southwest of Dießen am Ammersee in the middle of the Bayerdießen forest directly on the state road St2055.

To the north of the desert is the Sandberg (712 m above sea level ), to the east the Ochsenberg (721 m above sea level ).

history

A little north of the wasteland there are several prehistoric barrows .

Abtsried is first mentioned in 1202 as Adalbrechtsriete , i.e. the clearing of Adalbrecht.

Already in the Middle Ages there was a 500 day long Schwaige of the Wessobrunn monastery in Abtsried .

In 1681 this was converted into a hunting lodge with a chapel by Johann Schmuzer on behalf of Abbot Leonhard .

Finally, the hunting lodge fell into disrepair from 1821 before it was demolished in 1878 with the adjoining St. Wendelin chapel. From 1885 Abtsried was finally owned by the Bavarian state and was leased until 1961.

The wasteland initially belonged to the municipality of Dettenschwang and came with this in the course of the regional reform of 1972 to the market town of Dießen am Ammersee.

Sandbergweiher

About 500 m north of the Abtsried is the 0.4 hectare Toteiskessel Sandberg pond at 693 m above sea level. NHN . The dead ice basin formed by the Isar-Loisach glacier lies in the wall moraine of the inner terminal moraine range . The edge of the pond was artificially raised.
