Brigitte Enzner-Probst (* September 22, 1949 in Feucht as Brigitte Enzner ) is a German feminist theologian , retired pastor , author and systemic coach . She researches and publishes in the field of liturgy and ritual science, pastoral care and creation spirituality.

Brigitte Enzner-Probst is the third child of the parish couple Georg Enzner and Lydia, geb. Boots. She has been married to Pastor Hermann Probst since 1980, has three children and now lives in Rimsting am Chiemsee .

Professional background

After her childhood and youth in Wildenholz and Neusitz , she attended the Reichsstadt-Gymnasium in Rothenburg ob der Tauber . In 1969 she passed the Abitur at the Ohm-Gymnasium in Erlangen. Then she studied Protestant theology in Erlangen and Tübingen . This was followed by a semester abroad in Rome at the Facoltà Valdese . In 1975 she returned to Erlangen via Tübingen for the exam and also passed the state examination in philosophy .

Enzner-Probst began her pastoral training as the first vicar of the Immanuel parish in Munich-Denning . This was supplemented by courses at the preacher's seminary in Bayreuth, the second exam followed in 1977. From 1978 to 1982 she worked as an assistant at the chair for practical theology with Manfred Seitz in Erlangen and at the same time completed a clinical pastoral training. In 1983 she did her doctorate on a pastoral theological topic.

In 1980 she was ordained as one of the first female pastors of the Bavarian regional church . She took over her first pastor's position in Uttenreuth in 1982 and moved to Neufahrn / Landshut in 1984, where she shared a pastor's position with her husband until 1989.

From 1989 to 1996 she was theological consultant in the women's department of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria (EKLB) in Munich . She came into contact with representatives of the church women's movement from Germany (including Elisabeth Moltmann-Wendel , Luise Schottroff ), but also from the USA (Diann Neu). In 1992 she was also appointed women's representative for Western Europe of the WICAS women's department of the Lutheran World Federation .

After completing her work in the women's department, she worked as a visiting professor for feminist theology at the Humboldt University in Berlin in 1996/97 , where she also took over the professorship for Klaus-Peter Jörns . She completed her habilitation in 2006 at the Theological Faculty of Bern with her habilitation thesis on “Women's liturgies as performance. The meaning of corporeality in the liturgical practice of women ”and taught as a private lecturer in practical theology until the end of 2012. The main topics were ritual pastoral care, interreligious diapraxis, as well as spirituality of creation. Numerous lectures and seminars on these topics took her at home and abroad.

In addition to her teaching activities, she founded a consulting practice in Munich in 2003 with a focus on supervision , coaching , bereavement support and family constellations . In 2008 her seminar house "Haus Herzblick" opened in Rimsting am Chiemsee .

In 2017 she gave up her coaching practice for reasons of age, but continues her pastoral work to a limited extent and offers seminars on theological and spiritual topics.

Focus as a women's representative

Her tasks as theological consultant in the women's department of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria included a. participation in the liturgical bodies of the VELKD and the ELKB with the aim of publishing a new service book and hymn book . The women 's liturgy collection When Heaven and Earth Touch , compiled by the Expert Committee on Liturgy and Spirituality for Women , was published in 1993. The subject of violence against women took up a great deal of space. Enzner-Probst was primarily responsible for the volunteers in the church districts of Nuremberg and Augsburg .

In the institutionalization of theological women's studies working group, she developed the concept of a lectureship for feminist theology / theological women's studies. During her time as parish priest, Brigitte Enzner-Probst experienced the incompatibility of family and work, both in terms of working hours and the expectations of parish members . In an empirical study , she and a team interviewed 12 colleagues on this topic.
