history

Origin of the place name: In 1284 the village was called Bislafes . Later Pislaves or afterwards in a modified form: Piselaves , Pshlavess or Pischlaabz . Again, this is a derivation of pos l'aves , which means behind the waters . This means the confluence of the Streimbach and its tributaries, i.e. today's Boden (municipality of Pfafflar) .

The valley was settled from Pfafflar by Engadine religious refugees.

At the end of the 2013/14 school year, the single-class elementary school was closed.

Worth seeing

Pilgrimage church Maria Schnee

Kaplaneikirche Our Lady Maria Schnee, cemetery with cemetery chapel and warrior chapel ( listed )

The church was built as a chapel in 1639 and consecrated in 1648 by the auxiliary bishop of Brixen. Before the church was built, the dead had to be carried to Dormitz (near Nassereith ) and later to Imst and buried there. In 1670 the first chaplain, Nikolaus Kranebitter, came to this valley, was a priest in Bschlabs for 40 years and was buried below the altar. The records of the oldest baptismal register in the parish begin on October 31, 1670.

The church was enlarged at the beginning of the 18th century. The tower was built from 1770 to 1780, with an octagonal upper floor and an onion dome. In 1857 a sacristy was added. The high altar was erected two years later. In the center, instead of a painting, is the figure of the Madonna and Child; In addition to the double column position, the figures of the princes of the apostles, Paul on the left, Peter on the right and two other figures of saints (all by Josef Georg Witwer around 1775). High tabernacle porch with pillars and round temple construction; in the round niches the statuettes: on the left Barbara and Ignatius, on the right Johannes Nepomuk and Katharina (by Josef Anton Renn).
The side altars: built in 1884, left side altar with guardian angel painting, on the right side altar painting St. Joseph with Jesus on both sides with putti (widower workshop).
The pulpit: in the middle of the 19th century in the fields Jesus and Maria monogram, symbols of the divine virtues, Holy Eucharist, tablets of the law with sword and palm branch.
The cross above the vestry entrance is by Balthasar Jais from Imst (1740).
In the glass showcases: left, clad Madonna and Child, 18th century; right, Mother of God with a blue star cloak (was carried during the processions). The glass paintings of the top and bottom half-circle stained glass windows from the Tyrolean Stained Glass Innsbruck (1919), represent the Annunciation, the Visitation and the birth of Jesus.
Parapet organ with beautiful rococo brochure (organ works from the 18th and 19th centuries). The people's altar, with a picture of the Last Supper, was made by Gottlieb Praxmarer from Häselgehr.
On the outside facade of the church there are two old frescoes (crucifixion group and St. Christopher), which were only discovered during the renovation of the church. The renovated pilgrimage church was consecrated in 1985 by Bishop Paulus Rusch . The patron saint of Patroziniums Maria Snow is celebrated on 5 August.

The Saint Martin's Chapel

Way Chapel St. Martin ( listed )

This chapel is located on the so-called Gröbegg near Bschlabs / Aschlen on the old footpath from Elmen to Bschlabs. It was probably built in the early 20th century, was largely dilapidated and was renovated in 1988.

The path of the senses

The Path of the Senses is a footpath beginning below the church in Bschlabs, leads through a forest down to the Streimbach over a suspension bridge and up to the forest path on the shady side. Along the way are works of art made of wood, metal and stone with contemplative sayings, designed by local artists.

Culture

Bschlaber song

A song was written about this little town. The melody and the text are by Gerhard Hackenbuchner. Text of the Heimatlied:

There is a quiet spot in beautiful Tyrol
this is the Bschlabsertal, you feel good there.
Where the cuckoo calls and where the billy goat jumps
yes there is Bschlabs, completely surrounded by mountains.

(Refrain)

If you come from Reutte, go to the Lechtal,
on this beautiful journey, you see flowers blooming.
Are you with Elmen then, my friend watch out,
then it goes left up to the Hahntennjoch.

Refrain: There is a quiet spot ...

Now it goes steeply uphill, along the rock,
You see the gentian on the mountain slope.
Then a church appears before your eyes
a little bell rings and you are at home

Refrain: There is a quiet spot ...

Here you can go hiking, uphill and downhill,
and from the peaks you can see down into the valley.
In the evening there is "Gemütlichkeit",
a snack, beer, music and joy.

Refrain: There is a quiet spot ...
