The CIMB Nicol David KL Open Squash Championships 2012 took place from March 26th to 31st, 2012 in Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia . The men's squash tournament was part of the PSA World Tour 2011/12 and belonged to the International 50 category . The ladies' tournament was part of the WSA World Tour 2011/12 and belonged to the WSA World Series Gold category .

Defending champion in the men's race was Karim Darwish , who failed in the semi-finals this year to Adrian Grant . Omar Mosaad defeated Adrian Grant in the final 11: 6, 13:11, 12:14, 6:11 and 11: 8. In the women's category, Nicol David managed to defend her title from last year. She defeated Annie Au with 11: 4, 12:10 and 11: 9.

The field of participants in the men's and women's competition consisted of 16 players, four of which were for men and eight for women for qualifiers. The four best players were seeded for the men, the eight best for the women. Per Wildcard received Ivan Yuen a spot in the main draw of the men.

Prize money and world ranking points

At the tournament, the following prize money and world ranking points were paid out or credited for reaching the respective round. Players who entered the main field from qualification received the specified qualification points in addition to those for reaching the respective round. Otherwise the amounts are not to be understood as cumulative. The total prize pool was $ 50,000 for the men and $ 70,000 for the women.
