Career

Cal O'Reilly began his career as a hockey player with the Windsor Spitfires , for which he was active from 2003 to 2006 in the Ontario Hockey League . During this time he was selected in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft in the fifth round as a total of 150th player by the Nashville Predators . Towards the end of the 2005-06 season, the Canadian made his professional ice hockey debut when he was on the ice for the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League , the farm team of the Nashville Predators. After O'Reilly continued to play exclusively for the Milwaukee Admirals in the AHL for the next two seasons, he made his debut for the Nashville Predators in the National Hockey League during the 2008/09 season . Also in the 2009/10 season he was in parallel for both teams before O'Reilly rose to become a regular in Nashville in the course of the following season. On October 28, 2011, he was transferred to the Phoenix Coyotes in exchange for a four-round vote in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft .

In early February 2012, the Pittsburgh Penguins secured O'Reilly's services when they selected and signed O'Reilly, who was on the waiver list . Then he was mainly used at the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins in the AHL, before he moved to HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk from the Continental Hockey League in July 2012 .

After insufficient performance at the beginning of the 2013/14 season, O'Reilly was initially employed with the farm team Yuzhny Ural Orsk and released from his contract at the end of October. As a result, he joined the Utica Comets in the AHL and scored 45 points scorer in the remaining 52 games of the season. Because of these achievements, he signed a one-year contract with the Vancouver Canucks , the Comets' partner team in the NHL, in July 2014 . After this was not renewed, he joined the Buffalo Sabers in July 2015 and plays with his brother Ryan in a team. Until March 2017, the Canadian commuted there between the NHL squad and that of the Rochester Americans farm team . In March 2017 he was awarded within the AHL to the Toronto Marlies , with which he returned to his hometown.

After the end of the season, his expiring contract in Buffalo was not extended, so he joined the Minnesota Wild as a free agent in July 2017 . There he played only with the Iowa Wild , apart from an NHL assignment , before signing a two-year contract with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms limited to the AHL in July 2019 .
