Carl-W. Tubular
Carl-W. Röhrig (born November 12, 1953 in Munich - Schwabing ) is a German painter and scientific illustrator .
Life
Carl-W. Röhrig attended the Academy for the Graphic Arts in Munich and then embarked on a career as a freelance artist and illustrator. His painting can be assigned to naturalism , photorealism and fantastic realism . The first works that can also be assigned to Surrealism were created in the early years. Röhrig was interested in nature and pollution and has published several books on his art. An auction of three works was held at the Explorers Club's Annual Dinner at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, New York City . In 2004 the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe in Hamburg acquired some of his works. Until 2018 or until now, Carl-W. Röhrig has over 4000 paintings , illustrations , wall paintings and sculptures . The artist has lived and worked in Switzerland since 2008. Roehrig stands on the pages of Scientology in a video itself as a Scientologist before.

Scientific illustrations
Röhrig made a name for himself at the beginning of his work as a scientific illustrator with the book Ars Bacteriologica , which was created in cooperation with Bayer AG . In 1981 he received an honor from the Interior Minister of the Federal Republic of Germany for excellent scientific illustrations . Further awards and honors in the USA followed, including from the Museum of Scientific Illustration in New York. Röhrig has been a member of the National Geographic Society , based in Washington DC , since 1989
Photo-realistic animal paintings
The beginning was with the animal painting cycle ancestral gallery of threatened animal species . The first originals were presented to the public together with the animal filmmaker and researcher Heinz Sielmann in Bonn . An award was given by the German Parliamentary Society for the extensive overall exhibition with the works of Carl-W. Tubular. The painting Snow Leopard was published in international magazines and specialist journals. Another major exhibition was in the Museum of Underwater Archeology in Bodrum . Journalistic illustrations
He was involved in a medical - scientific film for GEO magazine with the title War in the Body , directed by Volker Arzt . The film was broadcast on First German Television ( ARD ). This was followed by a study trip to the USA lasting several months and further work on medical illustrations for the book The Incredible Machine for the National Geographic Society in Washington DC. The work, previously written in English, was published in German as GEO magazine Der Mensch . He created hundreds of other publications of artistic illustrations and paintings for various clients, as well as cover images for the magazines GEO , Der Spiegel and the Stern .
Own imagery
The challenge he faced while working on covers for German-language magazines gave rise to his own visual language in the mid-1980s. He summarized this phase of his painting, which is still the most extensive to date, under the term Fantastic Naturalism . It was his own interest in topics about the destruction of nature and the environment that gave rise to this series and was documented in a book with the appropriate title. In the end it was Carl-W. Röhrig in his paintings is also essentially about inspiring people to the preservation and beauty of nature and earth.
Tubular tarot
In 1991 the artist began the Tarot series comprising 78 paintings . The Roehrig Tarot heard as the Dalí -Universal Tarot, the Osho - Zen -Tarot and the Margarete Petersen Tarot of the modern classics of the Tarot. His strength lies in the translation of the old tarot motifs into a modern visual language.
