Cheri, Cheri Lady is a Euro-Disco song by Modern Talking from 1985, which was written by Dieter Bohlen . The piece reached number one on the charts in many countries.
Creation and publication
Dieter Bohlen was initially not convinced of the success of the title, neither was his environment. When he sent the song to Thomas Anders , however, he was thrilled. In a television documentary, Bohlen said that Anders had one hundred percent "the right nose".
Cheri, Cheri Lady was released as a single on September 2, 1985. The song is 3:45 minutes long, on the B-side of the single is the instrumental version of the title. It is the only release from the album Let's Talk About Love . On November 30, 1985, Modern Talking performed the song in Peter's Pop Show on ZDF in front of an audience of millions.
In 1998 a new recording appeared on the album Back for Good . A rap version of the title appeared in the same year on the single Brother Louie '98 .
The song also appeared on every Modern Talking compilation album .

Cheri, Cheri Lady became a number one hit in 1985 in Germany , Austria and Switzerland as well as in Belgium , Finland , Hong Kong , Israel , Lebanon , Norway , Poland , Spain and Turkey among others .
Awards for music sales
In France , the piece was awarded silver for selling 250,000 copies. For selling the same number, the hit received a gold record in Germany and became Modern Talking's third number one hit in a row after You're My Heart, You're My Soul and You Can Win If You Want .

Version of Capital Bra
The German rapper Capital Bra released a German-language version of the song with additional rap verses called Cherry Lady in March 2019 . Dieter Bohlen had previously said in German media that he doesn't like modern rappers because they flaunted their wealth. He said: "Everyone raps about their Maybach , and at the end of the day they cycle to their two-room apartment." He also said that in 35 years no one will remember the songs by Capital Bra. Although Capital Bra initially criticized Bohlen’s comments, the two later appeared together in a video on Instagram announcing the release of the cover. The YouTube video for the song was viewed over 500,000 times on the day it was released. The song became Capital Bras' twelfth number one hit in Germany, setting the record for most number one singles by the Beatles .
