Chris Terry (born April 7, 1989 in Brampton , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League (NHL) since July 2018 and at the same time for their farm team , the Grand Rapids Griffins , in the American Hockey League (AHL) is used.
Career
Terry began his career with the Markham Islanders in the local Canadian Junior League Greater Toronto Minor Midget Hockey League , where he was on the ice for a total of two seasons. Between 2005 and 2009 he was on the ice for the Plymouth Whalers in the Ontario Hockey League , where he led the team in the 2007/08 and 2008/09 seasons as team captain and in this capacity received the Mickey Renaud Captain's Trophy in 2009 . In the 2011/12 season Terry made his debut for the Hurricanes in America's top division, but spent most of the season with the Checkers in the AHL with the exception of three missions . In the following year, another ten games took place in the jersey of Carolina, before the left-shooter has been an integral part of the NHL squad of the Hurricanes since the 2014/15 season and his contract was extended for another year in the summer of 2015. He then joined the Canadiens de Montréal as a free agent . However, they mainly used the attacker in the AHL at the St. John's IceCaps , where Terry was elected to the AHL Second All-Star Team at the end of the 2016/17 season . In the following year, wearing the jersey of the new farm team, the Rocket de Laval , he even led the entire league in scorer points (71) and was therefore awarded the John B. Sollenberger Trophy and voted into the AHL First All-Star Team. Nevertheless, his expiring contract in Montréal was not extended, so he moved to the Detroit Red Wings as a free agent in July 2018 .
