Christian Ballhaus (actor)
Christian Ballhaus , also Balhaus (born May 1944 in Spa , Belgium ) is a German actor .
Life
Christian Ballhaus, born in Spa (Belgium) in 1944, had already played in a theater group at his school in Potsdam. Since a career as a concert pianist did not suit him because of all the practice, he applied to the State Drama School in Berlin after graduating from high school and had his first stage appearance at the Berliner Ensemble under the direction of Manfred Wekwerth and Joachim Tenschert . However, he broke off his studies in order to earn his money as an unskilled worker in a brown coal mine.
Then his father Carl Ballhaus offered him a training contract at the State Theater in Eisenach , where he was employed as artistic director. After completing his training, Christian Ballhaus worked at the theaters in Döbeln , Leipzig , Schwerin , Neustrelitz and Dresden . After working for a long time at the state theaters in Dresden-Radebeul and the stages of the city of Gera , he became a lecturer at the Leipzig Theater Academy in 1988 and at the Konrad Wolf Academy for Film and Television of the GDR in Babelsberg .
From 1991 he returned to his work as an actor and worked in Parchim , Wittenberg , Halle (Saale) and Aachen . In 1997 he went to the theater in Trier and was engaged at the theater in Regensburg from 2000 to 2006 . The readings he conducts occupy a large part of his activities.
Christian Ballhaus is the son of the actor and theater director Carl Ballhaus and the dancer Almut Dorowa, he is the nephew of the theater founders Oskar Ballhaus and Lena Hutter and he is the cousin of the cameraman Michael Ballhaus . He has a daughter who, like her mother, is a dancer and three grandchildren.
