Christoph Wagner (cookbook author)
Christoph Wagner (born May 23, 1954 in Linz ; † June 17, 2010 ) was an Austrian journalist and publicist who was best known for his cookbooks and crime novels.
Life
Christoph Wagner studied German, English and cultural management in Vienna and did internship (unpaid internship) with Peter Zadek , Rudolf Noelte and Jérôme Savary in Vienna and Bochum . He worked as an author of numerous cabaret programs and as a theater author.
A reading performance of Johanna or how to win a war according to Voltaire (1980) took place in Hans Gratzer's playhouse, the world premiere of Assassin at the Vienna Ensembletheater (1981) and von Strindberg no longer lives in the Theater am Petersplatz (1983). From 1979 to 1983 he worked as a theater critic, from 1981 also as head of culture at Wiener Extrablatt (first as a colleague, then as successor to Christoph Ransmayr ).
After the special edition was discontinued, he moved to the lifestyle editorial office of the Kurier, which was then emerging, and wrote a weekly restaurant column there from 1984 to 1994 . At the same time he worked between 1984 and 1998 as editor-in-chief of Gault Millau Austria and founded the Gault Millau magazine in 1989 . In addition to numerous essays and features on cultural and travel topics, Wagner wrote mostly on culinary topics.
Since separating from Guide Gault-Millau in 1998, Christoph Wagner has been the editor of the annual gastronomy guide Where is Austria? and author of gourmet columns in the magazines Profil (1996–2006), NEWS (from 2006) and Gusto ; He also founded and supervised the gourmet criticism and discussion platform www.speising.net. He also published (especially in the 1990s) in newspapers and magazines from GEO and Merian to FAZ to the Tages-Anzeiger .
Wagner was married and the father of two daughters. He lived in Vienna , Linz and Kindberg .

- 2004 A Gourmand World Cookbook Award for the best regional cookbook in the world, Tyrol cooks! , and another for Three Ladies and My Stove as the best literary cookbook in the German-speaking area
- 2004 Silver medal from the German Gastronomic Academy for the dessert cookbook Die Süße Küche
- 2004: Danubius Donauland Non-Fiction Book Prize
