Ciara Horne , m. Oliva , (born September 7, 1989 in Harrow ) is a former British and previously Irish cyclist .

In 2011 Ciara Horne was runner-up at the Irish track championships in single pursuit , scratch and 500-meter time trial . In the same year she finished seventh together with the Irish team at the European Rail Championships .

In July 2012, Horne, who was born in England , announced that she would be joining British Cycling because of the financial problems facing the Irish Cycling Federation . Under these conditions, her dream of becoming the first Irish cyclist to win an Olympic medal could not come true.

In 2014 Ciara Horne became European team pursuit champion with Laura Trott , Katie Archibald and Elinor Barker . The following year she won the bronze medal at the European Championships in the singles pursuit . At the UCI Road World Championships in 2016 , she finished third in the team time trial with the team of Cervélo Bigla Pro Cycling Team .

In March 2017, Horne was involved in a traffic accident while cycling to work in Llantrisant , Welsh . She suffered severe bruises and cuts. A few weeks later, she stated that she needed psychological help because she had been afraid of cycling on the street since the accident. In 2018, she announced that her goal was to start at the 2018 Commonwealth Games , but she was unable to qualify.

Ciara Horne is married to the former cyclist Lewis Oliva and bears his family name. She works as a physiotherapist .
