Cudjoe Key is a census-designated place (CDP) in Monroe County in the US state of Florida with 1763 inhabitants (as of 2010).

The CDP Cudjoe Key is also an island that belongs to the Florida Keys . It is located on the Overseas Highway ( US 1 , SR 5 ) and is approximately 30 km from Key West and 210 km from Miami .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the 1763 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 1670 households. The population density was 129.6 inh / km². 97.8% of the population identified themselves as whites, 0.5% as African American , 0.4% as Indians and 0.5% as Asian Americans . 0.2% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 0.7% to several ethnic groups. 6.0% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 34.3% of all households lived in 14.8% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 65.4% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.10 people and the average family size was 2.43 people.

12.1% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 17.2% were 20 to 39 years old, 35.3% were 40 to 59 years old, and 35.5% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 54 years. 52.0% of the population were male and 48.0% were female.
