Key Colony Beach is a city in Monroe County in the US state of Florida with 797 inhabitants (as of 2010).
geography
The city is an island of the Florida Keys , which is connected to Marathon and the Overseas Highway ( US 1 / SR 5 ) via the Sadowski Causeway . The city is approximately 50 miles from Key West and 100 miles from Miami .
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the 797 inhabitants at that time were distributed among 1,431 households, most of which are holiday homes used as second homes. The population density was 613.1 inh / km². 98.6% of the population identified themselves as whites , 0.5% as African American , 0.3% as Indians and 0.1% as Asian Americans . 0.5% said they belonged to another ethnic group. 4.0% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 50.7% of all households lived in 7.6% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 56.7% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 1.84 people and the average family size was 2.28 people.
7.4% of the population were younger than 20 years, 10.7% were 20 to 39 years old, 27.1% were 40 to 59 years old, and 54.8% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 62 years. 49.4% of the population were male and 50.6% were female.
The median annual income was $ 50,250, with 6.4% of the population living below the poverty line.
In 2000, English was the first language of 89.06% of the population, 9.82% spoke Spanish and 1.12% spoke French .
