Stock Island is a census-designated place (CDP) in Monroe County in the US state of Florida with 3919 inhabitants (as of 2010).

The CDP floor Iceland is located on the same island Stock Iceland that the Florida Keys belongs. It is located on the Overseas Highway ( US 1 , SR 5 ) and borders directly on Key West . Miami is approximately 150 miles away.

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 3919 inhabitants were distributed over 1644 households. The population density was 1687.8 inh / km². 79.1% of the population identified themselves as whites, 17.1% as African American , 0.3% as Indians and 0.3% as Asian Americans . 1.1% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.9% to several ethnic groups. 49.7% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 21.8% of all households lived in 35.7% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 64.6% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.72 people and the average family size was 3.18 people.

24.7% of the population were younger than 20 years, 29.3% were 20 to 39 years old, 30.2% were 40 to 59 years old, and 15.8% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 37 years. 52.9% of the population were male and 47.1% were female.

The median annual income was $ 39,151, with 10.6% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 58.45% of the population, 40.58% spoke Spanish and 0.97% spoke French .
