Curt Höppner

Ernst Curt Höppner (born March 10, 1887 in Oschatz ; † May 19, 1966 in Bad Reichenhall ) was a German architect and Prussian building clerk who worked as director of the building trade schools in Deutsch Krone , Frankfurt (Oder) , Eckernförde , Münster and Cologne .

family

Höppner was born as the son of the soap maker Hermann Otto Höppner and his wife Luise Emilie Höppner nee. Vincentz from a humble background. On December 23, 1924, he married Elisabeth b. Pack, the marriage remained childless.

education and profession

Höppner attended the community school in his hometown from 1893 and switched to the secondary school there in 1896 , which he graduated in 1903. Höppner then completed an apprenticeship as a bricklayer at G. Carl & A. Rönitz in Dresden . He passed his journeyman's examination on April 25, 1906 with distinction. In parallel to his professional training, he attended the Chemnitz Business Academy . The final exam of July 27, 1907 qualified him for attendance at a technical college . From the winter semester of 1907/1908, Höppner studied at the Technical University of Darmstadt . On May 17, 1911, he passed the main diploma examination.

Höppner initially worked for renowned architects such as Ernst Vetterlein and Ludwig Mahr & Georg Markwort in Darmstadt and Heinrich Reinhardt and Georg Süßenguth in Berlin. From November 1, 1911 to February 18, 1913, he was also able to achieve numerous successes in architectural competitions.

From February 13, 1913 to March 31, 1914, Höppner was employed as a government building supervisor ( trainee lawyer ) at the Prussian Building Department Berlin II and the Prussian Building Department Neisse . On March 13, 1914, he passed the state examination. With the status of an assessor , Höppner took up a position as a test teacher at the building trade school in Eckernförde on April 1, 1914 .

On September 14, 1914, Höppner reported as a war volunteer . Initially deployed with Field Artillery Regiment No. 12 , he soon switched to the air force as an artillery observer . As an observation pilot in Aviation Department 234, he was awarded the Iron Cross 1st Class, the Knight's Cross 2nd Class of the Albrecht Order with Swords, the Wound Badge and the Badge for Observation Officers of the Air Force . On December 4, 1918, he was released from army service as a lieutenant in the reserve .

After his return to Eckernförde he was promoted retrospectively to October 1, 1918 to senior teacher . On April 1, 1922, he volunteered to help set up the building trade school in Beuthen. On January 1, 1927 he became a teacher contract, with the leadership of the German crown Baugewerkschule entrusted. In the same year he was appointed director of studies . On October 1, 1931, he took over the management of the former building trade school, now the higher technical institute for civil engineering in Frankfurt (Oder). A year later he was transferred to the Higher Technical Institute for Building and Civil Engineering in Eckernförde and two more years later to the Higher Technical Institute for Building and Civil Engineering in Münster. Höppner began his last professional position on October 1, 1936, as senior director of studies at the Higher Technical State College for Civil Engineering in Cologne . Höppner, who was a member of the NSDAP , acted as block leader of the NSDAP in Eckernförde and Cologne and held numerous offices in organizations related to the party, had to vacate his post in 1945. He was retired in 1950 . In 1954 he was awarded the title of Building Director i. R. awarded.
