Danny Richmond (born August 1, 1984 in Chicago , Illinois , USA ) is an American ice hockey player who was last under contract with the Eisbären Berlin in the German Ice Hockey League .
Career
Danny Richmond began his career as a hockey player in his hometown for the Chicago Steel in the United States Hockey League . In his very first season he was named Rookie of the Year and was appointed to the USHL All-Star Team. In the 2002–03 season, Richmond College played ice hockey for the University of Michigan in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association . Here he was appointed to the CCHA All-Rookie Team. 2003/04 Richmond played for the London Knights in the Ontario Hockey League . In 2004 he won the gold medal with the USA at the World Youth Championships.
In the 2003 NHL Entry Draft , Richmond was selected by the Carolina Hurricanes in the second round in a total of 31st place. On September 15, 2004, he signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Carolina Hurricanes. He played his first professional season in the American Hockey League with the Lowell Lock Monsters . On January 20, 2006 he was transferred to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange with Anton Babchuk , where he mainly played for their farm team at the time, the Norfolk Admirals . On July 17, 2008, the Blackhawks transferred Richmond to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange with Tim Brent . Here, too, he played for the AHL team of the Penguins, the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins . Richmond played 55 games for the Penguins before he was transferred to the St. Louis Blues on March 4, 2009 in exchange with Andy Wozniewski . There he signed a one-year contract and played 54 games for the Blues farm team, the Peoria Rivermen , before he was transferred back to the Chicago Blackhawks .
On July 3, 2011, Richmond signed a one-year contract with the Washington Capitals , where he played for their farm team, the Hershey Bears . After only 24 games, he was transferred to the Colorado Avalanche , where he played for the Lake Erie Monsters .
On May 23, 2012 Richmond moved to Finland to the Pelicans in the SM-liiga . On January 27, 2013, he signed a contract with EC Red Bull Salzburg , for which he mainly played in the play-offs, before moving to EHC Red Bull Munich for a year in June 2013 .
On June 19, 2014, Richmond moved within the German ice hockey league to the direct competitor from Mannheim . With the Adler he signed a two-year contract under new coach Geoff Ward and won the German championship with the Adler in 2015 .
On May 31, 2017, Richmond signed a two-year contract with Eisbären Berlin .

Familiar
Danny Richmond comes from a sports-loving family. His father Steve completed a total of 159 games in the NHL. From 2002 to 2012 he was Director of Player Development at Washington Capitals . In this post he mainly oversaw the development of the younger players. Richmond's mother, Jeanne, played basketball for years while she was a student at the University of Michigan . His twin sister Jenny was a successful athlete at Pennsylvania State University .
