Polemics

In January 2014, criminal proceedings against Klein were opened by the Basel-Stadt public prosecutor for racist postings and Nazi comparisons on his Facebook page. Although Klein has in the meantime apologized for the comments, he was prosecuted in the first instance for his comments. He challenged the judgment; the appellate court did not evaluate Klein's statements as racial discrimination and acquitted him.

Klein is a regular guest commentator for the Basler Zeitung , with which he repeatedly provoked contradictions and replies. There he wrote an article in 2015 in which he sharply criticized the attitude of the Swiss Protestant Churches' aid organization towards Israel. The Aid Organization of the Evangelical Churches in Switzerland then filed a lawsuit against the publishing medium for violation of personal rights. In the article “German Thoroughness” he described Hitler as Angela Merkel's official colleague .
