The DEKRA | The University of Media in Berlin belongs to Dekra Akademie GmbH and is therefore part of the Dekra Group and is located in the Oberbaum City of Berlin in the Friedrichshain district. The university emerged from the media academy founded in 1997. The course on is financed privately and concluded with a subject-specific bachelor thesis.

Currently, the four courses of study film and television , journalism and PR , acting and staging and communication management are offered, which are completed with a state-recognized Bachelor of Arts . The standard period of study in all four courses is six semesters, a 12-week internship is integrated. Depending on the course, students can specialize in a certain subject area.

Since 2009, it has been offering bachelor's programs accredited by ZEvA. On the premises of the university, students have access to a recording and sound studio, a green box, a control room, editing suites as well as a library and a technology rental facility equipped with extensive recording and camera technology.

Affiliated institutes

The Script Academy at DEKRA | The University of Media has been integrated into the university as an affiliated institute since 2016 and trains authors, lecturers and dramaturges for the film and media sector. It also offers coaching for media professionals, but also for start-ups from other professions.

The focus of further training at the academy is intensive material development, market knowledge and professional marketing of the resulting book and screenplay projects. Numerous books, screenplays and films have been created at the academy, and the graduates have also received various prizes, grants and scholarships. The script academy was certified in 2010, so that the participants can take advantage of funding opportunities such as education vouchers , education bonuses and education check NRW .
