The Christian in the world

The Christian in the world. An encyclopedia is a German-language Catholic encyclopaedic book series . Its goals include the representation of the entire area of ​​the Catholic faith, the Christian doctrine of man, the earth and its creatures and religious life. She wants to present “the position of Christians in the world in a Christian way”.

The encyclopedia consists of 18 series and 129 volumes (spread over approx. 180 paperbacks). The encyclopedia was published as a paperback edition in collaboration with German and French authors with the assistance of Johannes Baptist Hirschmann. It was published by Paul Pattloch Verlag in Aschaffenburg from 1954–1978. The volume on the religions of the ancient Orient by Étienne Drioton ; Georges Contenau ; J. Duchesne-Guillemin (from the subject area “ XVII. The non-Christian religions ”), for example, bears the imprimatur (ecclesiastical printing permission): “ Würzburg , September 24, 1957 Dr. Fuchs Vicar General ”. Individual volumes experienced several editions.

In French it appeared Collection under the French. Short title Je sais, je crois ( Je sais, je crois. Encyclopédie du catholique au XXème siècle ). The French edition was published by the Librairie Arthème Fayard in Paris .
