The 331  m high Schlösslberg , which was once the vineyard of the Cistercians of St. Gotthard, forms the last elevation in the area between Lafnitz and Raab .

The place is part of the Raab-Őrség-Goričko Nature Park .

history

Deutsch Minihof is first mentioned in a document in 1548.

In 1664 the area around Deutsch Minihof was also the scene of armed conflicts. A united Christian army under Lieutenant General Raimund Graf Montecuccoli defeated the Turks , who were far superior in troops and military equipment, in the Turkish War of 1663/1664 on August 1st . Several memorials throughout the municipality commemorate the significant victory. The Mogersdorf International Cultural History Symposium, first held in 1969, is a reminder of this to this day.

On June 8, 1867, the unified imperial state Austria-Hungary was politically divided into the independent halves of Austria and Hungary. Like all of Burgenland, Deutsch Minihof belonged to the Hungarian half of the empire, the German West Hungary region, until 1921 . By order of the government in Budapest , the Hungarian place name Németlak had to be used from 1898 due to the policy of Magyarization .

After the end of the First World War , the municipality was awarded to Austria in 1919 on the basis of the Treaties of St. Germain and Trianon . As a result, many jobs were lost in the nearby St. Gotthard , which resulted in numerous people emigrating or emigrating. This led to the impoverishment of what is now the border area.

As a result of the annexation to the German Reich , Burgenland was dissolved in 1938. Deutsch Minihof belonged to the Feldbach district , Gau Steiermark , until 1945 . Towards the end of the Second World War in 1945, Deutsch Minihof was also involved in the fighting.

With effect from January 1, 1971 due to the were community structure reform law , the formerly independent communities of German Minihof and Walldorf together with the community Mogersdorf.

In 1999, the cooperative BIO-Fernwärme Wallendorf-Deutsch Minihof put the district heating system into operation, which supplies numerous houses in the village and in Wallendorf with district heating. In 2009, 78 connected participants could already be booked. In 2010, the system therefore had to be expanded with a second boiler.

societies

  • Voluntary fire brigade Deutsch Minihof - The weir was founded in 1921. Its predecessors, however, go back to 1912, when a manual pressure syringe was bought under Mayor Franz Fuchs . In 1922 the fire station , which was built in just a few months, was blessed with the fire bell . The military had its first major operation as early as 1923, when two cattle traders who stayed overnight set a farmer's stable on fire. During the Second World War, the Hitler Youth and later the Bund Deutscher Mädel took over the fire service. During the construction of the east wall in 1944, the fire station served as a kitchen. After the end of the war, Franz Heuberger took over the command of the military and rebuilt it, as the Russian occupation had destroyed the equipment and dragged it away. In 1954 the first motorized sprayer was bought, which is still in use. Between 1960 and 1963, what is now the fire station was built mainly through own work. The Wehr had to endure a delicate mission in 1964 when a fire had to be fought in the area of the iron curtain and there was a risk that volunteers could step on one of the numerous mines . In 1981 Franz Heuberger handed over the command to Karl Granitz after 36 years of service. On August 18, 1983, the new small fire engine, which is still in use in 2014, was blessed. The 75th anniversary of the military was celebrated in 1996 with a four-day festival, during which a meeting of German Minihofers from all over the world took place. Heidi Granitz wrote a handwritten chronicle of the fire brigade based on the documents of Mayor Karl Düh.
In 2011/12, the existing fire station was completely renovated. The apartment on the upper floor was accessed from the outside by a staircase, so that the fire brigade now has the entire ground floor with two garages. On June 24, 2012, the new fire station, which now meets all requirements, was blessed as part of a fire brigade festival. The income generated in this way is used for ongoing operations and as a reserve for a new fire engine.
As of November 1, 2014, the Armed Forces had 32 active members and 7 reservists. The commandant is Karl Granitz.
  • Ice and stick sport club Deutsch Minihof - The stock sport club , which is led by chairman Josef Lang, has a clubhouse with three asphalt curling lanes , which are open to the public, and an ice skating pond. Johann Schwarz achieved the club's greatest success in 2000 when he won the Burgenland provincial championship in individual shooting. Municipal championships with several moarities are held annually.
  • Limmitationes - The cultural initiative "for the joyful use of literature, music and painting" was founded in 1992 and is very important in the Austrian cultural landscape. The chairman is Udo Preis. The aim of the association is to focus on the communication between the invited artists and active participants on the one hand and the audience on the other. It offers unique events for Austria, to which the high proportion of premieres can be attributed. Limmitationes not only organized around 400 concerts, readings, exhibitions and discussion meetings, but also produced five CDs and a literary book. More than 50 concerts were recorded by ORF and broadcast on the Ö1 radio program.
For its work in 1998, the association received a prize from the Federal Chancellery for committed and innovative cultural mediation work. In 2004, the State of Burgenland received a prize for cross-border cultural work .
In 2007, the Federal Ministry for Education, Art and Culture awarded him the Federal Sign of Honor for Cultural Work .
Among other guest artists, the association can refer to Gato Barbieri (2001), Lotte Ledl (2004) or Walter Schmögner (2007).
  • Powerdreamteam - Mental structure - This non-profit association under the president Brigitte Krems was founded in 2011. According to his self-definition, his goal is “to encourage and support children and young people, as well as to motivate adults to strengthen their personality in order to master their own lives self-consciously.” In particular, Indigo children should be accompanied on their way.
