The German Embassy in Montevideo is the diplomatic representation of the Federal Republic of Germany in Uruguay .
The embassy building by the architect Edgar Trambauer Beherens, opened in 1974, is located in the Uruguayan capital Montevideo in the Barrio Sur district on the border with the neighboring barrio Palermo . The embassy is located on La Cumparsita 1435 not far from the Rambla with a view of the banks of the Río de la Plata . The headquarters of ALADI and the Unión Postal de las Américas, España y Portugal are also in the immediate vicinity .
Ingo von Voß has been the ambassador since August 2016 .
