The German national soccer team of U-16 women represents Germany in international women's soccer. The team has existed since 2007 and is trained by Anouschka Bernhard , who is also the trainer of the U-17 national team .

history

After the age limit for the U-17 national team was raised from 16 to 17 in 2001, the DFB founded a newly formed U-16 national team in 2007, which played its first game on October 30, 2007 against France .

The U-16 national team takes part in the annual Nordic Cup and was able to win it in 2008 after victories against Norway, Denmark, Iceland and France. In 2013, after victories against Iceland, Finland, the Netherlands and Denmark, they were also victorious and a year later they entered the list of winners for the third time with victories against Norway, Finland, Denmark and Sweden. After the team lost out in the final against the Netherlands in 2015, they made it into the Nordic Cup final for the fourth time in a row in 2016. On July 5, 2016, the 9-0 win against Finland in the last group game was the highest win since the team was founded.

Since 2015, the team has also been taking part in a UEFA Development Tournament , where you meet three other teams. After second place in the premiere year, this comparison was won in 2016. In addition, the U-16 national team provides a team out of competition for the U-18 national cup 1 . The games there do not count as official internationals.

With Lena Lotzen , Luisa Wensing (international debut 2012), Jennifer Cramer , Leonie Maier (2013), Kathrin Hendrich , Pauline Bremer (2014), Laura Benkarth , Kristin Demann , Margarita Gidion and Felicitas Rauch (2015) have ten players who have since 2007 for the U-16 junior women were used, at least one international match for the senior national team .
