The Second Home - Chronicle of a Youth from 1992 is the second part of the Heimat trilogy by director Edgar Reitz . The film consists of 13 parts, the length of which is between 108 and 133 minutes.

action

The film accompanies Hermann Simon, Maria Simon's son, who already plays an important role in Heimat - Eine deutsche Chronik , from high school in 1960 to studying music in Munich to his return to Schabbach in 1970 .

background

The second home differs significantly from home . Instead of the village framework from Heimat , the stories develop here in the milieu of the artistic avant-garde within the Munich student scene of the 1960s. Here, too, however, as in Heimat , there is a link between private and historical perspectives. In addition to Hermann, each episode has another main character whose story is mainly told. It is mentioned in the opening credits next to the title and the year.
