Doc meets Dorf is an 8-part German television series that was first broadcast on RTL in 2013 .

The surgeon Dr. Fritzi Frühling loses her groom and job in the big city. Through an inheritance, she becomes the owner of a farm in the small fictional place called Canada. She travels there to see the farm and then sell it. But the villagers do not want her to leave because they have been looking for a new country doctor in their village for a long time.
The production has often been compared to the hit series Doctor's Diary . In August 2013, the online people magazine PromiFlash attested a thematic proximity to the US series Hart of Dixie .

Charisma
The series has so far only been broadcast on RTL. It ran weekly on RTL from August 22 to October 17 (Thursdays, 8:15 pm).
Doc meets Dorf was part of a series of television series with which RTL tried to get into the sitcom field. After the first episode, the RTL productions had Christine. Yesterday was perfect! and Secretaries - Surviving 9 to 5 in the half-hour format made their debut, which were even less successful.
Initially, the series reached 2.74 million viewers, then passed with 2.05 million viewers. The decision that UFA Fiction was not allowed to produce another series of Doc meets Dorf was made at the beginning of November 2013. This was followed by one-hour series such as Schmidt - Chaos on Prescription , The Teacher or The Prison Doctor .
The series was repeated from November 12 to December 5, 2013 on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the RTL night program. The version with English subtitles is titled Welcome to Nowhere, Doc! . In 2014 the series was released in Spanish with the title ¡Bienvenida al pueblo, Doctora! broadcast on Cosmopolitan Televisión . According to the Global Screen press release on April 9, 2014, marketing negotiations with Russian television were already underway.

criticism
“The RTL series“ Doc meets Dorf ”, which is being traded as the“ Doctor's Diary ”successor, may be thought out nicely, the yellow of the egg is this village chaos dramedy about a sunny country doctor with a sweet tooth gap (Inez Bjørg David has more than just that) not exactly. At least two episodes are not enough to succumb to the (where) possible charm of this series. The precocious, completely unironic first-person comments are annoying & what the plot fails to do, the pop songs have to do: create emotion and empathy. "
“Doc meets Dorf was a small ray of hope in the RTL prime-time program. Even if the series around Dr. Fritzi Frühling [...] perhaps did not come close to highlights like Doctor's Diary, it was a high quality format that definitely had its fan base and was also able to achieve solid ratings. "
