Katharina Marie Schubert
Katharina Marie Schubert (born January 22, 1977 in Gifhorn ) is a German theater and film actress .
Life
Schubert grew up in Braunschweig . After graduating from high school , she studied acting at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna between 1995 and 1999 . During drama school she played in Lotphantasie by Botho Strauss in a production by Luc Bondy at the Wiener Festwochen 1999. After that she was engaged directly at the Vienna Burgtheater and made her debut there as “Edrita” in Martin Kušej's production of Grillparzer's Weh dem who lies! . In the next few years roles at the Vienna Burgtheater followed.
From 2001 to 2008 she was part of the ensemble of the Münchner Kammerspiele . Under the directorship of Frank Baumbauer , she was seen here in numerous roles. She worked under the direction of Andreas Kriegenburg , Stefan Pucher , Sebastian Nübling , Jossi Wieler , Johan Simons , René Pollesch , Alvis Hermanis and Thomas Ostermeier . With Andreas Kriegenburg's Drei Schwestern von Anton Chekhov she was invited as "Irina" at the Berlin Theatertreffen 2007 and also in 2008 as "Miranda" in Stefan Pucher's Der Sturm von Shakespeare . Since 2010 she has been a member of the ensemble of the Deutsches Theater Berlin . In the 2015/2016 season she played the role of Polly at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg in the Threepenny Opera .
In addition to her work at the theater, Katharina Schubert is active in film and television and has played several leading roles. For her portrayal of an unemployed actress in Oliver Haffner's film A Gift from the Gods , she was nominated for the German Film Prize in 2015 as best leading actress . In all three cases from the Tatort series , in which she participated in 2019, she played the role of the murderer.
As a filmmaker, she made the short films Wabosch Wilma (2009) and Another fucking… (2011), both of which premiered at the Hof Film Festival . In 2011 she was a member of the jury at the World Film Festival Montreal.
Katharina Marie Schubert was the singer of the band The Kapulikaupunki Broken Heart Orchestra , a formation of actors from the Münchner Kammerspiele , she plays the piano and the accordion.
