Don't Try This is a band from Dessau-Roßlau , Saxony-Anhalt, founded in 2012 .

It combines elements from the fields of metal and pop music and consists of the guitarists Stephan Renner and Phil Müller as well as the bassist Markus Kopitzki and the drummer René Wahler.

Shortly after it was founded, Don't Try This played at various festivals and supported 36 Crazyfists , Annisokay , Akrea , Goitzsche Front and To The Rats And Wolves .

In 2013, created in collaboration with the Power Metal singer David basin of Victorius , the first video single for The Requiem. With the release of the video for My Burden at the end of 2014, the debut album Wireless Slaves was announced for March 20, 2015 . This was recorded in the soundart recording studio and produced by Chrystian Engel. This was followed by concerts in Austria and all of Germany with Storyteller , Herren , Vogelfrey and Cambrium .

In December 2015, a two-page interview appeared in the 100th issue of Legacy .

After this cycle, Don't Try This signed a band takeover contract with Boersma Records and released Wireless Slaves as a Deluxe Edition across Germany in 2017 . After the release show on March 31, 2017 in the Alten Theater in Dessau, a tour through Germany , the Czech Republic and Slovakia followed under the name When They Rise .

In the same year a tour documentary came into the local cinemas and summarized the entire “When They Rise Tour” in a one and a half hour film. A release on DVD and Blu-ray is still pending.

In early 2018, singer Carlo Kasanya announced that he was leaving the band.

Then the band performed with various guest singers (including Rudi Schwarzer , David Baßin , Martin Simon and Paddy Shadow) and played two more concerts in the Dessau and Erfurt area .

On July 27, 2019, Don't Try This gave a reunion concert at the Allstars Festival with their original cast .

New projects

At the end of 2018 it became known that Stephan Renner, Markus Kopitzki and René Wahler were part of the newly founded project around Jens Kästel .

On February 1, 2019, they released their debut album under the name KÆSTEL No more compromises! and then went on tour through Germany and Switzerland with Goitzsche Front .

Almost at the same time, Phil Müller and Jennifer Weist appeared as a guest pianist at a concert by Don Broco and Mike Shinoda from Linkin Park . Shortly afterwards his participation as a pianist at NEO became known and went on tour with him as support for The Dark Tenor .

In November of the same year, KÆSTEL went on a world tour together with Zero Hour - also through Germany and Switzerland.

At the beginning of 2020 Phil Müller went on tour again with NEO under the name We draw life lines and played the song Mein Leben with Goitzsche Front in the sold out Huxleys .

Phil Müller has been producing music videos for artists such as B. Martin Kesici , Goitzsche Front and Hardy and Heroes. The music video for Born in the East by Hardy and Heroes reached one million views on Youtube after less than a year and was often part of various MDR contributions .
