The Dunc Gray Velodrome is a sports complex with Velodrome in Bankstown City , Australia , near Sydney .

The velodrome was built on the occasion of the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000. The construction period lasted from February 1998 to November 1999, it was opened on January 26, 2000, Australia Day . The cycling track itself is 250 meters long and made of pine wood . The sports complex was named after the track cyclist Dunc Gray , who was the first Australian to win a gold medal in cycling at the 1932 Olympic Games in Los Angeles .
