history

Eggisried was first mentioned in a document in 1488. The area around Eggisried was already settled during the Epipalaeolithic . A chert knife was found during excavations in 1939. The Maierhof was designated as a fortified cloister courtyard in 1502. The population fluctuated over the centuries. In 1564 67 people lived in the village, in 1811 22 people lived in 3 properties.
