Ekat Cordes
Ekat Cordes (born April 13, 1982 in Aurich ) is a German director and author . In 2010 his play Ewig gärt was invited to the Stückemarkt at the Berlin Theatertreffen and presented in a staged reading. In 2013 he was named “Young Director of the Year” in Theater heute for his production Der Penner ist elsewhere again by Jurj Sternburg in the Maxim Gorki Theater (2011), which was awarded the prize for young drama at the Berlin Stückemarkt .
Life
Ekat Cordes works as a freelance director and writer . Cordes studied German and sociology at the Carl von Ossietzky University in Oldenburg , where he worked at the Oldenburg University Theater (OUT) a. a. premiered his pieces I love my Job , I wanna be loved by you and blue moon . During his studies, he took over the management of press and public relations work at OUT and led improvisation courses at the university. In 2005 he won first prize at the German / Austrian / Swiss Impro Cup in Berlin with the improvisational theater group 'Weideglück'.
At the Oldenburg State Theater between 2006 and 2010 he worked on freelance projects as a writer and director ( Struwwelpeter - We Don't Need No Education , Sex Cells , You MAST love me ), and he was also an assistant director at the Oldenburg State Theater . Cordes worked with Susanne Kennedy , Albrecht Hirche , Anna Bergmann and Marc Becker , among others .
After Cordes' play Ewig gärt was invited to the Stückemarkt of the Berlin Theatertreffen 2010, he staged the dramatic live comic A Greekship in the Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin at the “Reality kills” festival together with the author Philipp Löhle and the comic artist Henrik Schart . His play Aproposkalypse was premiered in 2012 at the Osnabrück Theater and his farce Gertrud goes Korea was nominated in 2013 for the Leonhard Frank Prize of the Mainfranken Theater in Würzburg and for the author's theater days “Stück auf!” At the Essen Theater .
Cordes has lived in Berlin since 2011 .
Ekat Cordes worked a. a. at the Stadttheater Pforzheim , the Landesbuehne Niedersachsen Nord , the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe , the Theater Heidelberg , the Theater Erlangen , the Staatstheater Mainz , the Theater an der Parkaue , the Theater Ulm and the Theater Ingolstadt .
For many years he has been working with the set designer Anike Sedello, whom Cordes got to know during his time as assistant director at the Oldenburg State Theater , and with the costume designer Dinah Ehm.
