The 1992/93 season was the 54th season of the Eliteserien , the highest Norwegian ice hockey division . Champion was Vålerenga Ishockey for the 18th time in the club's history . The Trondheim IK and Hasle-Løren Idrettslag descended to the second division.

In the green series, each of the ten teams played a total of 18 games. The eight best-placed teams qualified for the Elite Series, while the last two were relegated to the second division. The six best-placed teams in the Elite Series qualified for the playoff intermediate round, in which the champions were played off. The four first place winners in the Green Series received between one and four bonus points for the Elite Series. The playoffs were initially played in two groups of three teams each. The top two in each group qualified for the playoff semifinals. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
