The 2002/03 season was the 64th season of the Eliteserien , the highest Norwegian ice hockey division . Champion was Vålerenga Ishockey for the 22nd time in the club's history . The Lørenskog IK relegated to the second division.

In the main round, each of the nine teams played a total of 38 games. The six best-placed teams qualified for the playoffs in which the champions were played, with the top two in the main round qualifying directly for the playoff semifinals. The last placed had to compete in the relegation against the top three of the second division. Each team received three points for a win after regular time, two points for a win after overtime, one point for a loss after overtime and zero points for a loss after regular time.
