The 2001/02 season was the 63rd season of the Eliteserien , the highest Norwegian ice hockey division . Frisk Asker became champion for the third time in the club's history .

mode

In the main round, each of the ten teams played a total of 42 games. The six best-placed teams qualified for the playoffs in which the champions were played, with the top two in the main round qualifying directly for the playoff semifinals. The four last placed had to compete in the relegation against the two first placed in the second division. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
