Eric Schneider (born September 15, 1977 in Calgary , Alberta ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who last played for Adler Mannheim in the German Ice Hockey League .

Career

Schneider began his career in 1995 with the Tri-City Americans in the Canadian Junior League WHL , where he developed into one of the top performers and one of the strikers with the highest points in the team. After studying for two years at the University of Calgary , for whose ice hockey team he was on the ice in the game operations of the CIAU , today's Canadian Interuniversity Sport , the center played for various teams in the lower North American ice hockey leagues.

In the summer of 2001, the Canadians signed a contract with the Rochester Americans , the former farm team of the Buffalo Sabers . Schneider, however, changed employers several times and played in the 2001/02 season in addition to the Americans for the AHL clubs Cleveland Barons and Saint John Flames .

For the 2004/05 season , the left-handed shooter signed a contract with the traditional German club ETC Crimmitschau from the 2nd Bundesliga , where he finally made his breakthrough and scored 74 points in a total of 56 games . The then 28-year-old could not prevent the ETC's relegation to the league and then joined the Bietigheim Steelers , where he was able to improve again and in the end was top scorer of the 2005/06 season with 97 points .

For the 2006/07 season , the Canadian moved to the Hanover Scorpions from the German Ice Hockey League , where he was able to convince immediately, so that his contract was extended until 2010. Due to the salary cuts at the Scorpions, Schneider used a release clause in his contract and moved to league rivals Frankfurt Lions before the 2009/10 season .

In the early summer of 2010, the Frankfurt Lions filed for bankruptcy and were denied their license for the 2010/11 season . Schneider then kept fit with DEL promoted EHC Munich and scored five points (2 goals and 3 assists) in the first five preparation games. He had a contract in Munich until 2013, but retired from professional ice hockey at the end of June 2012 due to an injury and then played for an amateur team in the Chinook HL.

On January 19, 2013, the Hamburg Freezers Schneider signed a contract until the end of the season, which meant that he was again actively involved in ice hockey.

On February 3, 2014, Adler Mannheim signed Schneider until the end of the 2013/14 season .
