Erich Rommerskirch

Erich Rommerskirch (born February 12, 1904 in Trebnitz / Silesia , † May 1, 1989 in Marburg ) was a German Jesuit and writer .

Life

Erich Rommerskirch was the son of a chief physician at the hospital in Trebnitz . After attending the primary school there for four years , Erich Rommerskirch switched to a boarding school in Glogau , where he and his brother graduated from high school. After the death of their father, the family moved to Patschkau / Neisse in 1917 , where Rommerskirch passed the school leaving examination in 1923 . He joined the Jesuit order and spent his novitiate and his studies in the Dutch branches of the order in 's-Heerenberg and Valkenburg . At the end of the twenties he went to Mittelsteine in the district of Glatz , and from 1932 to 1934 he worked as a prefect in a Catholic boarding school in Breslau . In 1935 he was in Valkenburg for priests ordained .

Rommerskirch's first positions as pastor were Berlin from 1936 and Rottmannshöhe on Lake Starnberg from 1938 ; from the beginning of the Second World War in 1939 he worked as a hospital and youth pastor in Breslau . During this time he was subjected to frequent repression by the Gestapo . In 1944 he moved to Dresden . After the bombing of Dresden in February 1945, Rommerskirch fled to Bavaria . Via Munich he came to Karlsruhe , where he worked as a religion teacher in the 1950s . From 1961 he was commissioned to set up a new parish in Marburg , and from 1970 he worked in the elderly pastoral care of the diocese of Fulda .

Erich Rommerskirch has been close to the Catholic youth movement , especially the " Bund New Germany ", since his youth . He wrote books for young people , some of which appeared in the series of " tracing books ", theological essays and plays .
