Erich Hermann Schleyer (born March 1, 1940 in Dresden ; † July 6, 2021 in Vienna ) was a German actor , screenwriter , presenter , journalist and children's book author .

Life

Schleyer studied at the Leipzig Theater School . From 1961 until his death he worked as an actor. After fleeing the GDR in 1968, he worked in Düsseldorf , Cologne , Hamburg , Munich , Zurich , Berlin and Salzburg ( Salzburg Festival ) and the Bad Hersfeld Festival, among others . In Vienna Schleyer worked with Tabori at the Burgtheater and the Akademietheater . At the Schauspielhaus Wien under the direction of Hans Gratzerhe became known with the role of Frank N. Furter from the Rocky Horror Show . He was a member of the Theater in der Josefstadt in Vienna; He also played in the Volksoper , the Volkstheater , the Theater an der Wien and the Vienna State Opera.

In Germany, he moderated children's television series and took part as an actor (brother Tom in Das feuerrote Spielmobil , role of the village policeman in Die Rote Zora and their gang ) and the series Clown & Co. , which started in 1977. In the early 1990s, the series Erichs Chaos with the Austrian actress Gusti Wolf was broadcast on behalf of ORF . Schleyer's program The Leaning Tower was shown between February 2005 and September 2008 on ORF's Confetti TiVi ; books for children were presented in this program. Schleyer also wrote children's books himself; The storyteller was published in 2017 by the Austrian Kral publishing house .

He moderated and designed documentaries on ORF such as When the Heiden Christians were by Jos Rosenthal. In the ORF program Compas , headed by Franz Hlavac , Schleyer reported a place on the border in Berka / Werra three times within 20 years about the end of the GDR. Erich Schleyer died in July 2021 at the age of 81 in Vienna.
