Ernesto Palacio (born October 19, 1946 in Lima , Peru ) is a Peruvian opera singer (tenor) and opera agent. Gifted with an unusually beautiful, high and agile lyric tenor voice , he played a significant role in the Rossini Renaissance of the 20th century and was also known for his interpretations of Donizetti , Bellini , Mozart and Cimarosa . Although he showed musical talent in his youth, Ernesto Palacio first studied theology . He began his singing studies with Rosa Mercedes Ayarza de Morales and Alejandro Granda; He later continued his studies in Milan, where he won first prize in the RAI's “Voci Nuovi Rossiniane” (“New Rossini Voices”) competition in 1972 and made his debut as Lindoro in L'italiana in Algeri .

He retired from the stage in 1998, but remained connected to the world of opera as the artistic agent of several important singers, including Juan Diego Flórez and Elīna Garanča . He is currently the artistic director of the Rossini Opera Festival Pesaro . Palacio prepares young artists for work on the stage, collaborating with theaters such as the Teatro Real in Madrid and the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía in Valencia. He was a member of the juries of several singing competitions. Ernesto Palacio is also the artistic director and founder of the Festival Internacional de Ópera Alejandro Granda (Festival Granda for short), one of the most important opera projects in South America.

The government of Peru appointed Ernesto Palacio "Comendador" of the Order for Special Merits ("Orden por Servicios Distinguidos").
