It was my pleasure is a German comedy film by the director Imo Moszkowicz from 1963 . The black and white film, which is based on a novella by Curtis Bernhardt and Hans Jacoby , premiered on November 29, 1963 in the Universum in Munich .

Nicole's mother ends up passing through Munich, where she meets her long-time friend Thomas Andermatt. Thomas is general music director of the opera and is looking forward to seeing his friends again. She has a request to him: Since she has to travel for three weeks, he should occasionally look after her daughter Nicole, who has been attending ballet school in Munich for six weeks. Thomas last saw Nicole six years ago when the girl was twelve. Now he visits her at the ballet school and gets to know an almost adult young woman.
In the weeks that followed, Nicole Thomas' nerves were very strained. She believes that she has found the love of her life in musician George and is deeply desperate when George finds another friend. He believed that Nicole was destroying his creativity. Nicole then disappears without a trace and Thomas thinks she wants to harm herself. Nicole actually plans to throw herself in front of a car and ends up in front of the car of Carl-Friedrich Graf Lerchenau, known as Charly. Thanks to modern brakes, Nicole is not run over and falls in love with the young man. In addition to worrying about Nicole, whom he sometimes helps out with money, sometimes with accommodation, Thomas also has numerous love affairs. He ends up in bed with the opera star Lotte Menzel-Schröder, drinks champagne with singer Maria Rivaldi at night and constantly tries to convince his girlfriend Dr. To convince Gloria Weingarten of his loyalty. Nicole still needs his attention as she doubts her talent for dancing. When Thomas tells her that the famous ballet star Pierre Langeais will appear in the opera, she comes to a rehearsal. Pierre becomes her new boyfriend, but learns that his predecessor has cursed his successor - him. Nicole wants to calm down the superstitious Pierre and start a brief affair with Thomas. Nicole quickly falls in love with Thomas, who accepts her crush. She was already talking about marriage when her mother returned to Munich after three weeks. She has the photographer Freddy with her, whom Nicole likes immediately. She drives off in his car while Nicole's mother drives into town with Thomas. The music for the film is from Peter Thomas , who also composed the title song Das ist meine Liebe, sung by Esther Ofarim (text: Fritz Rotter and Hans Jacoby). It can be heard a second time in the film with a different arrangement. The recording of the title song was bought by Ofarim's record company Philips at the end of 1963 and released as a single (B-side: Dirty Old Town (I found my happiness) ).

The Voluntary Self-Control of the Film Industry (FSK) released the film on November 28, 1963 without a public holiday release for those aged 18 and over. The film, distributed by Nora-Filmverleih, premiered one day later at Universum in Munich. The original age rating of 18 and over is explained by the " pimping " shown several times in the film , which was still a criminal offense at the time. The film was shown on 28 August 1971 for the first time in the ARD program on television and was released in 2005 on DVD. The FSK has since reduced the film to an unlimited age limit.
