Eugen Ehmann (District President)

Eugen Ehmann (born January 28, 1958 in Tauberbischofsheim ) is a German lawyer and civil servant in the Free State of Bavaria . Since January 1, 2019, he has been the district president of Lower Franconia .

Family and education

After graduating from high school in Tauberbischofsheim , Eugen Ehmann was accepted into the German National Academic Foundation and studied law at the Universities of Mannheim and Erlangen-Nuremberg from 1977 to 1982 . He spent his legal clerkship in Ansbach and Nuremberg . He passed the first state law examination in 1982; the second state examination in 1985. For his legal history work Markt und Sondermarkt: in 1987 the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg awarded him the academic degree "Doctor of Law" (Dr. jur.) on the territorial scope of market law in the Middle Ages .

Professional background

Eugen Ehmann has been a civil servant in the Free State of Bavaria since 1986 . On March 1, 1986, he was appointed advisor in the field of “Local Law” and two months later he was appointed advisor in the areas of “Data processing law, data protection” and “New media, press law” at the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior . In December 1991 he moved to the district office of Nürnberger Land and became head of the “Public Safety and Order” department, as well as temporarily head of the administrative office of the greater Nuremberg area . Between January 1996 and December 1997 Eugen Ehmann was a consultant at the office of the Bavarian State Commissioner for Data Protection in the Bavarian State Chancellery in the department “Basic issues of data protection, European data protection, data protection in medicine”.

In 1998 he returned to the district office of Nürnberger Land and took over the management of the department “Municipal Tasks, Planning and Construction”. On February 1, 2000, he became head of the “Central and Communal Tasks” department and deputy to the district administrator in office.

Between August 1, 2002 and March 31, 2008 he was head of the “Coordination and Strategy” department at the Bavarian State Office for Health and Food Safety in Erlangen .

On April 1, 2008, Ehmann moved to the government of Middle Franconia , initially as head of the “Environment, Health, Consumer Protection” division, and from May 1, 2008, as the government's vice-president.

Eugen Ehmann has been the district president of Lower Franconia since January 1, 2019.
