Franz Wilhelm Freiherr von Asbeck (born August 11, 1760 in Westphalia, † July 22, 1826 in Nuremberg ) was a Bavarian nobleman and civil servant.

Life

Franz Wilhelm Freiherr von Asbeck was a noble boy at the court of the Prince-Bishop of Speyer in his youth . He studied law. He then entered service in the Electorate of Cologne . In 1802 he was appointed imperial chamberlain and finally entered the service of the Electoral Palatinate as a privy councilor. He became a commissioner for the military and civilian possession of the Bamberg Monastery . In 1803 Asbeck became President of the Court of Appeal in Bamberg and in 1808 President of the Finance Administration in Munich. From 1817 to 1825 he was General Commissioner of the newly formed Bavarian Lower Main District . In this position (as District President of Lower Franconia ) he was the first curator of the University of Würzburg . In 1824 he donated his exquisite private book collection to the Würzburg University Library . In 1825 he retired.
