Friedrich von Brettreich
Maximilian Friedrich Brettreich , Knight of Brettreich since 1906 , (* December 25, 1858 in Bamberg ; † March 21, 1938 on board a ship off Haifa ) was a German lawyer and politician.
Life
Brettreich studied law in Würzburg from 1876 to 1880, where he became a member of the Corps Bavaria in 1877 . After various positions in the Bavarian administrative service, he was government president of the Upper Palatinate and Regensburg from 1905 to 1907 . In the meantime, Prince Regent Luitpold of Bavaria had awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Bavarian Crown in 1906 . Associated with this was the elevation to the personal nobility status and he was allowed to call himself “Knight of Brettreich” after being entered in the nobility register . In 1907, Prime Minister Freiherr von Podewils brought him into his cabinet as Minister of State of the Interior, to which he was a member initially until 1912 and then again from 1916 to 1918. In between he was the district president of Lower Franconia and Aschaffenburg from 1913 to 1916 .
Honors
Brettreich is an honorary citizen of Würzburg (since 1907), Regensburg (since 1916) and Ruhpolding . In the places mentioned, streets are named after him.
He was a member of the Corps Bavaria Munich.
