The EuroCup 2017/18 was 16 . Playing time of the EuroCup in men's club basketball. It should not be confused with the FIBA Europe Cup , which is hosted by the continental association FIBA Europe .

Similar to the superordinate EuroLeague 2017/18 competition and as in the previous season, the competition had a name sponsor with the Greek food company Vivartia and its snack brand 7DAYS, so the full name of the competition was 7DAYS EuroCup .

mode

At the EuroCup, 24 teams took part in the preliminary round instead of 20 teams as in the previous year. The first round was the round-robin tournament mode English round robin played with home and away in four groups of six teams each. The two most unsuccessful teams in each preliminary round group were eliminated, while the other teams reached the second group stage of the 16 best teams.

Here, too, the game was continued in four groups with four teams each, with the teams staggered according to preliminary round placement, so that no group opponents in the preliminary round also played against each other in the intermediate round. The first and second placed teams in each intermediate round qualified for the quarter-finals, while the remaining intermediate round teams were eliminated.

From the quarter-finals onwards, the play-off mode " best of three " continued, with the better placed team in the intermediate round initially having home rights. The team that first scored two wins in a play-off series advanced to the next round.

Participating teams

In the competition, Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem, a national champion (Israel), as well as Dolomiti Energia Trentino, Lietkabelis Panevėžys and KK Cedevita (Italy, Lithuania and ABA-Liga), three national runners-up from the 2016/17 season took part. Ten clubs were represented that had already been active in the EuroLeague .
