Evangelical St. John's Church

The St. John's Church is the church building of the Evangelical congregation AB Graz-Nord , in the 12th  Grazer district Andritz .

History and design

In addition to the Erlöserkirche in Graz-Liebenau, the Johanneskirche is the only post-war Protestant church building in Graz. The groundbreaking ceremony took place in 1960 and the plans come from the Salzburg architect Eugen Salpius . The Johanneskirche is located directly next to the catholic Andritzer parish church of the Holy Family . Inclined strips of concrete windows structure the low sacred building, which is flanked and marked as such by a high bell tower. The design of the simple interior was designed by the Bauhaus architect Hubert Hofmann .
