History and design
The church building belongs to the monastery complex of the mother house Graz-Eggenberg (Institute of the School Sisters) , which was built from 1846.
The house church was built in 1896 and 1897 according to the plans of Josef Flohr instead of a building completed in 1855. From 1968 to 1971 the new church was redesigned according to the designs of Günther Domenig and Eilfried Huth . The sacred building has a cross-shaped floor plan and connects on the east side to the monastery and school building and consists of a long house with a total of three bays. The cafeteria , the tabernacle and the ambo are by the artist Gerhard Moswitzer (1969/1970) and the organ comes from the workshop of the Krenn brothers . The Lenten veil in the church and a glass painting in the school building were made by Rudolf Szyszkowitz . From the original furnishings of the church a Maria Immaculata and a Maria with the Evangelist Johannes, which are attributed to the artist Jakob Gschiel , have been preserved.
