The Mater Dolorosa church or Church of the Sorrowful Mother is a small church on the Graz city ​​limits in Messendorf in the eighth district of St. Peter . History and design

The neo-Gothic building, erected in 1909, has been a station chaplain since 1941 . In 1934 and 1960 the church was renovated.

The one nave nave consists of three bays and has a ribbed vault on wall services . The uniform equipment of the interior comes from the construction period. In the prayer room there is a Mariahilf grace image based on the model of Lucas Cranach the Elder . Ä . The graffiti on the outside of the facade shows St. Christopher and Petrus Claver by Hans Oberstaller from 1966. The tympanum fresco with a depiction of Mary and Child is by Franz Mikschowsky (1933).
