Evangelos Vettas (born October 23, 1974 ) is a Greek pool player .
Career
After he narrowly missed the finals in 2001 when he was fifth in the group, Vettas reached the round of 64 at the 2002 9-ball World Cup , in which he was defeated 6: 9 by the Mexican Ernesto Domínguez . At the 9-Ball World Cup in 2003 , he was eliminated in the round of 64 against Tony Drago . On the Euro Tour in 2004 he reached the quarter-finals of the German Open and the sixteenth-finals of the Spanish Open . In the 9-ball competition of the 2004 European championships , he finished 65th. In July 2005 he reached the semifinals in the 9-ball competition of the World Games in Duisburg by winning against Ralf Souquet and Charlie Williams , in which he lost 7: 9 to the later gold medalist Chang Pei-Wei . He then missed a medal win by a 7-2 defeat in the game for third place against Rodney Morris . In October 2005 he reached the round of 32 at the Swiss Open . At the 2006 European Championships , he made it into the round of 16 in 9-ball and lost 9-1 to Imran Majid . At the first staging of the Stuttgart Open in 2006 he reached the final and lost 1-0 to Florian Hammer . In December 2007 he won the Neckarsulm b & a Classics with a 9: 7 final win against Murat Ayas .
In November 2013, Vettas returned to the finals of a Euro Tour tournament for the first time in eight years. He reached the round of 32 at the Castel Brando Open 2013 , in which he lost 5: 9 to the Swiss Dimitri Jungo . At the final tournament of the German Tour 2005 he was eliminated in the round of 64 against Christian Reimering . At the Stuttgart Open 2016 he lost the final 5-7 against Sebastian Ludwig . In January 2017 he defeated former world champion Niels Feijen 6-0 at the final tournament of the German Tour 2016 , but then retired 6: 7 in the round of 32 against defending champion Roman Hybler . At the Italian Open 2017 he reached the round of 32 and lost 6: 9 to the Dutchman Nick van den Berg .

From 2004 Vettas played for Bundesliga club BSV Dachau , with whom he became German champion in the 2004/05 and 2005/06 seasons . He then left the club and returned to Greece.
In 2010 he was part of the Greek team at the World Team Championship , with which he lost in the semi-finals to the eventual world champions, the British team.
