history
In the previously only agricultural area east of Sierning, a first single-family housing estate, the Gründbergsiedlung, was built on the outskirts of Steyr in 1935. The cadastral community was formed in 1938 when these parts came to the city of Steyr. One part then formed what was then the 8th district Grünberg of the city after the war , the north-eastern parts came with parts of the municipality Gleink , which was dissolved in the same year , to the III. District Stein (since the 1990s these districts have only been listed as statistical districts Gründbergsiedlung or Tabor (west), Stein (south) ).
The Steyr cadastral community was still called Gründberg until the end of the 1950s - like the Sierningen cadastral community - but then received a distinctive name. Föhrenschacherl is the name of a grove that was located at the old place of execution in the city of Steyr, roughly where the state hospital is today. The name is related to Schachen 'wood'.
