FEI Nations Cup 2015 (Eventing)

The FEI Nations Cup 2015 in Eventing (2015 FEI Nations Cup ™ Eventing) was the fourth season of Nations Cup eventing .

Course of the tournament series

All stages of the tournament series took place in Europe. The special stages were advertised as CICO 3 * or CCIO 3 *. In 2015, the series extended from March 19 to October 11 and thus comprised the entire green season (period in which riding tournaments can be held outside of halls due to weather conditions).

The winning team received eleven points in each of the special tests, the following teams a decreasing number of points. For each participant who did not finish the test, the teams received 1000 minus points in the test. Thus, all teams have a result and receive (if they were among the best nine teams in the test) points for the Nations Cup.

The exams

1st test: France

The French Nations Cup tournament marked the start of the 2015 season. This took place under the name The Crazy Ride from March 19-22, 2015 in Fontainebleau .

With a clear lead of around 30 minus points, France defended its win from the previous year, whereby none of the riders and none of the horses of the previous year's team were involved. As in 2013, Michael Jung and his show horse Sam FBW won the individual ranking of the CICO 3 * .

2nd test: Ireland

For the second time a Nations Cup took place as part of the eventing tournament Ballindenisk Horse Trials . The CICO 3 * tournament, which took place on the grounds of Ballindenisk House near Watergrasshill in County Cork, Ireland , was held from April 24th to 26th, 2015.

As in the previous year, three teams were at the start, Great Britain won again.

3rd test: United Kingdom

The British leg of the Nations Cup 2015, the Houghton International Horse Trials , took place from May 28th to 31st, 2015. The venue is Houghton Hall in Norfolk .

The field of participants of the CICO 3 * consists of 76 starter pairs, in the team classification six teams started. Germany won here with around 15 minus points ahead of Great Britain. With Propriano de l'Ebat , the Frenchman Luc Chateau secured the lead with by far the best dressage of the test, which he held until the end with only 1.6 minus points from the terrain.

4th test: Poland

The fourth evaluation test of the Nations Cup took place in 2015 in the Lower Silesian town of Strzegom . The Strzegom Horse Trials were held here from June 24th to 28th, 2015 . The tournament offered the riders a wide range of tests, in addition to the CICO 3 *, six other CIC and CCI tests were also advertised.

The cross-country course of the Nations Cup was very selective, only two out of seven teams brought three or four riders to the finish. Great Britain won by a larger margin. In the individual ranking, 28 of 44 starters finished all three partial tests, Karin Donckers clearly won with a lead of four minus points.

5th exam: Germany

The German stage of the Nations Cup took place under extraordinary conditions: the venue was Aachen as in previous years, but the 2015 Nations Cup was not held as part of the CHIO Aachen (which did not take place in 2015). Instead, the CICO 3 * was organized as a framework test at the European Championships in five other equestrian disciplines in Aachen.

The German Nations Cup was held on August 13th and 14th, 2015 as a "two-day event". In the morning of the first day the dressage was ridden, in the afternoon the jumping competition followed. The second day was dominated by the cross-country test, which was ridden from 2 p.m.

There were nine teams at the start, after dressage and jumping the German team was just ahead of New Zealand and Great Britain. The very inconsistent award of dressage marks by the three judges was criticized, for example Sara Algotsson-Ostholt with her mare Reality got a dressage result between 71.15 percent (18th place for the judge) and 80.00 percent (3rd place for the Hungarian judge) . The difference was similarly extreme with Michael Jung and Halunke FBW , who received between 68.46 percent (28th place for the Hungarian judge) and 77.89 percent (3rd place for the German judge Martin Plewa ).

On the off-road day, the German riders secured their good starting position, with only an additional 2.4 minus points they won the Nations Cup. The terrain was less successful for Great Britain: After one rider had already been eliminated, Holly Woodhead had to bring her very good result of 34.30 minus points to the finish as possible. Woodhead initially crossed the finish line with 29.60 more minus points, but was subsequently disqualified because she had not overcome obstacle 20b within the area limited by flags. The British team slipped to eighth place.

In the individual ranking, Ingrid Klimke took the lead early on with her team horse Hale Bob , with whom she was fourth after dressage and jumping. After the second and third placed riders could not keep their results and fell behind Klimke with Hale Bob , Ingrid Klimke was already certain of victory. With her second horse FRH Escada , she had already been in the lead before the off-road day, after the off-road it was clear that Klimke had achieved a double victory.

6th test: Italy

A good five weeks after the fifth stage, the season of the Italian Nations' Cup for eventing riders in Montelibretti should be continued. This should take place from September 17th to 20th, 2015. The Nations Cup was canceled, however, and a normal CIC 3 * was held in its place.

7th test: Belgium

The Belgian national competition of the Nations Cup took place for the third time in Waregem . The Nations Cup tournament Internationaal Eventing Waregem , a CICO 3 *, was held from September 24th to 27th in the 2015 season.

In the team classification, the German team was in the lead from the first partial test and ultimately won the test. The Australian team was just behind in second place after the first two partial tests, but two of their pairs were eliminated in the field, so that Australia fell back to fifth place. After many rainy days in the previous weeks, the soil conditions deteriorated during the test. No rider succeeded within the allowed time. The fastest time in the field was achieved by the first rider on the cross-country course Nana Dalton, who was able to work her way up from 14th to the top position and won the test.

8th test: Netherlands

In October the Dutch Nations Cup concluded the Nations Cup. The CCIO 3 * Military Boekelo was held in Boekelo from October 8th to 11th, 2015.

The cross-country course turned out to be very selective. Although there was a strong field of participants at the start in Boekelo, only four out of ten teams managed to bring three team riders to the finish. It won the team championship for the first time ever in the Nations Cup of eventing riders Ireland. The Irish were only in seventh place after the dressage, but took the lead with the off-road day. The German team ( Josephine Schnaufer / Sambucca , Anna Siemer / Butts Avondale , Marina Köhncke / Let's Dance and Josefa Sommer / Hamilton ) came in sixth place.
