Falko Hönisch

Falko Hönisch (* 25. November 1977 in Stade ) is a German opera and concert singer of the vocal range baritone , politician ( SPD ) and Mayor of Sankt Goar am Rhein .

Career

Origin and education

Falko Hönisch grew up in Bremervörde in Lower Saxony as the son of a captain . In 1997 he passed his Abitur at the Bremervörde grammar school . During his subsequent civil service , he studied stage and concert singing at the Lübeck University of Music with Franz-Josef Einhaus and in 1998 moved to the Karlsruhe University of Music , where, in addition to singing in the class of Roland Hermann, he also studied piano in the class of Kaya Han and Conductstudied in the class of Frank Cramer in the degree course in artistic teaching at high schools. In 2000 he moved to the State University for Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart , where he completed his studies with Julia Hamari and Konrad Richter.

Artistic career

Hönisch made his debut in the role of Don Giovanni at the Wilhelma Theater in Stuttgart. In 2004 he went to the Landestheater Eisenach as a permanent member of the ensemble , where he sang Papageno in the Magic Flute , among other things . In 2005 he made his debut as Wolfram von Eschenbach in Richard Wagner's opera Tannhäuser . From 2005 to 2007 he was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Staatstheater Kassel , where he a. a. as Conte di Almaviva in Mozart's opera Le nozze di Figaro and as Harlequin in Richard Strauss ' opera Ariadne auf Naxos . As a harlequin, he also appeared at the Oldenburg State Theater in 2006 . In the 2007/08 season he switched to the ensemble of the Darmstadt State Theater as a “lyric baritone” . Then he decided to work freelance. In May / June 2008 he was heard at the State Theater Eisenach as Count Eberbach in the opera Der Wildschütz by Albert Lortzing . Since then he has performed a. a. at the Theater an der Wien , at the Teatro Giuseppe Verdi in Trieste , at the National Reisopera in Enschede and at the Opéra National de Lyon .

As a concert singer, Hönisch sang Johann Sebastian Bach's passions and cantatas , Joseph Haydn's The Creation and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's oratorios, Frank Martin's In Terra Pax , Arnold Schönberg's A Survivor from Warsaw and contemporary compositions, taking on both baritone and bass parts. He has performed at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam , the Berlin Philharmonie , the Tonhalle Düsseldorf , the Halle Handel Festival, the Philharmonie am Gasteig in Munich and the Salle Pleyel in Paris .

Together with the German-Mexican tenor Emilio Pons, Hönisch acquired the former health department in Sankt Goar in 2013 and set up a music academy there.

Political career

Hönisch joined the SPD at the age of 16 and founded the Jusos in Bremervörde , of which he was elected chairman. After his election as Juso chairman in the Rotenburg (Wümme) district , he ran for the SPD Bremervörde for local elections in 1996 and was then a member of the Bremervörde city council until 1998.

After 21 years of political abstinence, Hönisch ran for local elections on May 26, 2019 as town councilor and mayor of his new place of residence Sankt Goar. Surprisingly, he prevailed against the previous incumbent Horst Vogt (CDU) with a 61.1% share of the vote and took over the office of mayor on August 12, 2019.
